Currently residing in southern Ontario, CANADA, I am a physicist, husband and open-source enthusiast. My areas of formal research include:
- computational quantum mechanics of crystalline and amorphous solids and surfaces
- experimental and theoretical forensic physics, concentrating in bloodflight dynamics and blood spatter patterns.
I strive to be somewhat polymathic, so my informal research areas are broad in range. But I am particularly interested in computer science and visualization and high-performance computing.
When not working, my hobbies include typesetting and typography, graphic design, gaming and putting Linux in as many places as I can (you’re next, toaster)! I suppose blogging and web development should now be included in that list.
This blog, t-square, is going to be dedicated to my many research areas and interests. In particular, I want to document the many ways that I have used software to make scientific research a little easier, a lot more pleasurable and a lot more beautiful. While this isn’t intended as a news site, I’ll also be writing articles with my take on the latest developments in the open-source world. I’ll probably also be posting a few tutorials for the Gimp and Inkscape along the way. t-square and TimTeatro.net was entirely created with free and open-source software:
Thank you for taking the time to visit t-square. I hope you find something to enjoy.
Best wishes,
Tim.
